Career Opportunity – Food & Beverage Manager
We are looking for a dynamic service team leader to build and coordinate our Food & Beverage department that consists of Dave’s Pub & Grill (110 seats + 50 patio seats) The Oak Dining Room (100 seats) and 10,000 sq. ft. of Banquet & Meeting space.
In conjunction with the Head Chef, the Food & Beverage Manager provides planning, direction and supervision for our F&B outlets servicing the 126 room Oakwood Resort and surrounding communities as well as our 18 hole golf course and Lakeside Spa.
As this position involves a significant amount of independent decision making and public contact both internally and externally, the successful candidate will possess outstanding leadership skills and excellent written and verbal skills.
Primary Position Requirements
- Lead/Manage the day to day operations of the Food and Beverage Outlets ensuring that all Food and Beverage Outlet service, cleanliness and maintenance standards are followed by touring the Outlets frequently.
- Interview, hire, lead, motivate, coach and recommend appropriate corrective action for the Food and Beverage Outlets team to improve service results.
- Manage daily staffing levels to ensure guest service, operational needs and financial goals are met.
- Monitor/evaluate the performance of the Food and Beverage team while interacting with guests and correct as needed to achieve the highest level of guest satisfaction and quality service.
- Ensure compliance with all Food and Beverage Outlets brand policies, standards and procedures by training and supervising, follow-up and hands on management.
- Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service level; review feedback from guests through Social Media and Guest Satisfaction Surveys and drive goals to increase scores.
- Participate in the budgeting process – develop, implement and manage the budget, forecast, inventory and operating cost – (i.e. labour costs, food costs, beverage costs, supplies, equipment etc.) for the various outlets to maximize revenue and minimize expenses.
- Assist with creating marketing campaigns/promotions to capture in house guests and a larger share of the local area.
- Remain current in the latest food and beverage trends and ensure our offerings are up-to-date to establish our position as a leader in the industry.
- Maintain excellent communication with department personnel.
- Monitor sales of liquor, beer, wine and manage and report inventory monthly.
- Performs staff performance appraisals on an annual basis
- Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to the legislation set out by Occupational Health and Safety
- Conducting information sessions, incident investigation & employee training as required.
- Correcting substandard acts or conditions
- Uphold staff appearance and grooming policies.
- Coordinates and oversee the purchasing of food, beverage & supplies.
- Other duties as required.
- Duty Manager – as scheduled.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Related post-secondary education or comparable experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in F&B leadership, preferably in a destination resort environment.
- A Team Player with the ability to coach and mentor staff.
- Knowledgeable in food and beverage service and cost controls.
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrates self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Must have a current Food Handler and Alcohol service certifications.
- Superior decision making skills, with the ability to deal with high pressure environments.
- Must have good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Proven success in the achievement of targets and goals
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evening, weekends, holidays, and as necessary to meet guest needs.
Language
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work extended hours both at a desk & computer terminal, and on their feet moving throughout the various service areas.
