Robin Ellis, Art Instructor

Born in the Niagara Region, Robin attended Niagara College Fine Arts Program in 1980 before moving on to the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, and receiving an Associate Degree from O.C.A. in 1985. The next several years were spent raising her family of three boys in her home town of Welland, teaching Visual Arts at Niagara College, working for a number of boards as an artist, volunteering with various community groups, and participating in locally sponsored art shows. She returned to Brock University to study Fine Art, focusing on drawing and painting and receiving her Honours BA in 1999. Her graduate show, titled “This is Not Art” was held at Rodman Hall in St. Catharines. In her graduating year she won the Award in Brock's Student Exhibit for Best Drawing as well as Best in Show. She then earned her teachers certificate from Brock University and began teaching Visual and Media Arts at Notre Dame College School in Welland.

Always close with nature, Robin has recently spent time walking with Grandmother Josephine, an Anishinabe elder, in her annual water walk from Lake Superior to the Atlantic Ocean to honour the water, giver of life. This was an inspiration to her artistic side, and a call to her soul to follow the guidance of spirit in respect for nature, and a return to the studio to paint. She has recently spent time developing a body of work and teaching at KryArt Studio in Bayfield. Robin has travelled and found inspiration in visiting ancient sites.  She has hiked to Machu Piccu in Peru, Camino de Santiago in Spain, visited stone circles in England and ancient sites in Ireland.

She is pleased and excited to be sharing her experience and expertise with fellow artists.
